We are continuing our series of "Outdoor Experiential Education and Sustainable growth". Next we visit Lekėčiai. During the education you could learn about Jerusalem artichokes. What is Jerusalem artichoke? The potato sunflower or Jerusalem artichoke is a plant of the aster family. It is a perennial herb 1.5 metres tall. The plant looks a bit like a sunflower. The stem is covered with hairs and the flowers are yellow, similar to sunflower clusters but much smaller.

As well as learning about Jerusalem artichokes, participants had the opportunity to taste their own Jerusalem artichoke soup, squeeze some healthy juice and make and taste jam!

Project goal: To educate the inhabitants of small towns and suburbs in Lithuania and Turkey to be role models in environmental protection and sustainable practices.

The project "Outdoor Experiential Education and Sustainable growth" is partly funded by the European Union.
